Anderson Funeral Home is an independent funeral home, founded in March of 1988, by Michael L. Anderson. Mike began his career in funeral service when he was just 13 years old, working for David Van Hemert at Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson, Michigan.  Mike was employed by Donald F. Dunmore of the Dunmore Funeral Home in downtown Adrian, until Mr. Dunmore became ill, and the funeral home was sold and later closed. Before his dream to own a funeral home became a reality, Mike tried to purchase several different pieces of property for the location of his funeral home but local politics prevented such a thing from happening.

Finally a suitable piece of property was found and the zoning was approved. As the business continued to grow, it became necessary to expand both the parking lot and building several times. Due to the encouragement from families served, a second location was opened in Tecumseh, Michigan in December of 2005.
