John Paul McDaid was born into eternal life on November 2, 2011; the loving son of Thomas and Nancy (Brielmaier) McDaid. John was born on December 9, 1981 in Adrian, Michigan. He was a proud graduate of the University of Dayton following in the footsteps of his sisters, Anne Marie and Katie and his brothers, Patrick and Ryan. John loved his family. John was an Eagle Scout, again following in the footsteps of Patrick and Ryan. He and his Dad became 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in 2009. What a proud moment. An experienced scuba diver, he and his brother enjoyed their special annual adventure. John looked forward to Octoberfest in Minster, Ohio with his sisters Anne Marie and Katie and sitting around the campfire at night. He enjoyed running marathons and was a member of the “Team in Training” to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma search for a cure. Always trying to help others he was a long time blood donor, a six gallon mark reached! Those left to mourn the passing of this sensitive, caring man are his parents, Tom and Nancy, his sisters Anne Marie Washington (Dave), Katie (Sean Gessendorf), brothers, Fr. Patrick McDaid, S.M. and Ryan (Rebecca) McDaid and their children Rylee and Reid, and the “love of his life” Julie Becker. Belonging to a devout Catholic family he is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. His warm exuberant personality garnered him a host of close friends. Preceding him were his Grandparents, John and Margaret Brielmaier and Kelsey and Alice McDaid. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Thomas Helfrich o.s.f.s. as celebrant and Father Patrick McDaid S.M. as con-celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m., led by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian with a Vigil Prayer Service being held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday morning from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions would be greatly appreciated to “the Marianists” that would help his friend Fr. James build a church for the people in the rural areas of Ranchi, Jharkhand, India or to the St. Vincent DePaul food pantry at St. Joseph Church. Robert Lee Schultz, age 69, of Adrian passed away Friday, November 4th surrounded by his family and close friends under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. Born December 14, 1941 the son of Robert and Helen (Caulkins) Schultz in Adrian, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Diedra and brothers Jimmy, Phil, and Tom Schultz. On August 17, 1962, he married Alice (Morton) Schultz who survives along with two daughters Laura (David) Costa, Tecumseh, and Christine (Scott) DeLing, Wayland, MI; nine grandchildren;, 2 brothers Jack Schultz, Muskogee, OK and Larry Schultz, Tecumseh, MI, and one sister Angel Schultz, Alabama; many nieces and nephews; “adopted” sons Samuel G. (Lori) Sallows and Dan (Chris) McClenathan. Bob is a 1960 graduate from Adrian High School and immediately joined the United States Marine Corps and served as a field aviation jet aircraft mechanic through June 1964. He graduated from Santa Ana Junior College, CA as a Mechanical Engineer and was a MI Master Electrician. He worked for various Manufacturing, Engineering, and Maintenance facilities in MI, IN, CA, and OH. After retirement, he developed training materials for skilled craftsman and launched “Bottomline Training Solutions”. He lived by the motto “Learn, Earn, and Return” with a passion to keep companies and jobs in America. He was also an Adjunct Professor for JCC, Washtenaw Community College, and Northwest State College. Bob and Alice have also been members of Tecumseh Church of the Nazarene for 6 years where Bob taught “My Marriage Course”, served on the Sunday School Board, taught skilled craftsman classes in conjunction with “Hands of Hope”. Bob enjoyed riding motorcycles for fun and in proud service to Christian Motorcyclists Association and The Patriot Guard. To honor the legacy of Robert L. Schultz, visitation will be held at Anderson Funeral Home, 1448 Short Street, off of Occidental behind Wendy’s in Tecumseh on Tuesday, November 8, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Tecumseh Church of the Nazarene, 1001 N. Union Street, Tecumseh on Wednesday, November 9 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Miller officiating. CLINTON- Kassie Lynn Wingerd “Babers”, age 13, of Clinton passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Uof M Mott Children’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 14, 1998 in Tecumseh the daughter of Dale and Audra (Russell) Wingerd. Kassie was currently in the eighth grade at Clinton Middle School, where she was active in the choir. She was involved in the Siena Heights Youth Theater. Kassie loved animals, including her beloved dogs Rosie and Zoey. She also loved being around children. Kassie is survived by her parents, two brothers, Zachary “Zachy” and Jordan “Bubs” Wingerd of Clinton; maternal grandparents, Beverly Russell of Tecumseh and Dan (Bonnie) Russell of Adrian; paternal grandfather, John Wingerd of Blissfield; aunts, Natalie (Allen) Brenke of Tipton, Annette “Nettie” (Allen BJ) Roesch of Adrian and Doris Ostrander of Adrian; uncles, Joe and Paul Wingerd both of Blissfield; cousins, Danielle and Deidre Roesch of Adrian, Jason, Sarah, Shannon and Joshua Brenke of Tipton, Rebecca and Abby Brenke of Saline, Brent Wingerd of Whiteford, Jessica and Alexis Beckey of Adrian. CLAYTON-Jerry Townsend, age 92, of Clayton, died Monday, October 24, 2011 in her Clayton home. She was born March 24, 1919 in Toledo, Ohio. She was a proud city-girl. Her parents were Walter G. Thomas and Clara Thomas Bauroth. On July 27, 1946, Jerry married Preston Townsend in Clayton. Jerry was preceded in death by husband Preston and sister, Charlotte (Chalk) DeLine. Surviving Jerry, are her sisters, Helen Bostwick and Georgeanne Bauroth, her three children Lynne (Jim) Warner, Karen (Eric) Winston, and Gene Townsend, six grandchildren, Lisbeth (Eric) Harcourt, Mathew (Bridget) Warner, Richard Warner, Megan (Michael) Winston-Scott, AnnaMarie Winston, and three great-grandchildren, Adriana Winston, Makaya James, and Brecken Harcourt. ADRIAN – Iris Grant, age 53, was taken from this earth by her Merciful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday morning, October 23, 2011, at Bixby medical Center. She was born to Bobby Russ and Genevieve (Henry) Russ on December 15, 1957, in Adrian, Michigan. She is survived by her husband, Roy Grant, whom she married March 7, 1981, siblings Barb (Gayle) Radant, Cindy Russ, Joseph Russ, two nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, with her mother passing just 6 months ago. Also left to miss her will be very special longtime friends, Les and Peggy Snead, and her church family from Jesus Is Lord Ministries where she and Roy were well-respected Ushers, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need of a ride or help of any kind. Iris loved her family and friends very dearly and her favorite pastime was crocheting afghans for those she loved. Iris was employed at the Daily Telegram for 8 years as a foot route newspaper carrier with responsibility for 4 routes. She wanted to do her routes even when she was ill, not wanting anyone to have their paper delivered in the wrong place or rubber banded when they preferred it folded. Her customers were always on her heart and mind. She had previously worked for 20 years at Goodwill Industries in Adrian. Funeral services for Iris will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastor Pete Valdez officiating. Burial will be in North Mt. ADRIAN – Josiah Nathaniel Rosas, infant son of Lupe Rosas and Christine Sarabia passed away, Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Promedica Bixby Hospital. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his big brother, Cruz Rosas; maternal grandparents, Eric and Dorothy Casarez of Adrian; paternal grandparents, Art and Lillian Trevino of Blissfield; maternal great-grandparents, Josephine Sarabia of Adrian, Rebecca Sarabia of Houston, TX, Arturo and Connie Casarez of Adrian and David and Elizabeth Soto of Adrian; paternal great-grandparents, Lupe Rosas of Blissfield; other survivors include, Mercedes Casarez, Enrique Casarez, Erica Casarez, Selena Casarez, Justin and Tiffany Rosas, Michael Rosas, Eddy and Belen Casanova, Daniel Trevino and James Trevino, and Michael Estala. He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Lupe Mirelez – Rosas, Aristobulo and Mary Sarabia, Arthur Sarabia, Sarah Sarabia Solorzano, Jose and Conception Burciaga. HUDSON – Perry Stinson Stuttz, age 63, of Hudson, died Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 6, 1948 in Hudson to William Howard and Martha “Pat” Viola (Maxim) Stuttz. He had been employed by Lenawee Stamping Plant and was a member of the Baptist Church in Hudson. Perry lived at Magnum Care Facility for 6 years, where he made many friends.Perry is survived by his parents, Pat and William Stuttz of Hudson; a son, William (Nikki) Stuttz of Adrian; a daughter, Patricia (Flint) Miller of Onsted; four sisters, Peggy (Dale) Duff-Harris of Manitou Beach, Penny (John) Lindsey of Allen, MI, Pamela Stuttz Nudo of Gilbert, AZ, and Polly (John) Chesser of Onsted; and five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. TECUMSEH – Carl Gerten, age 88, of Tecumseh passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born February 26, 1923, in Ottawa, OH, to Alexander P. and Gertrude H. (Siefker) Gerten. On September 28, 1946, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin, Ohio, he married Evelyn Elchert. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2011. Carl was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing cards, being a member of the Shamrock Seniors Card Club and singing with the Barber Shop Chorus. He loved traveling, wintering in Florida, golfing and being with his family – especially during family vacations at Mohican State Park in Ohio. He was a 45 year resident of Tecumseh. He is survived by his children, Dan (Mariann) Gerten of Butler, PA, Richard (Pamela) Gerten of Marshall, MI, Rosanne (Roy) Schlegel of Tecumseh, Fred (Theresa) Gerten of Phoenix, AZ, Linda (Dale) Forsyth of Adrian, and Ed (Annie) Gerten of Britton; two sisters, Gertrude Smith of Tiffin, OH and Mary Ellen (Don) Wilhelm of Cleveland, OH; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Corporal Ronald Gerten; two sisters, Mae Evert and Betty Tusing and a brother, Rudy Gerten. The Funeral Liturgy for Carl will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father Dan Wheeler as celebrant. MANITOU BEACH-Ronnie A. Hunt, age 54, of Manitou Beach, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Provincial House, surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. Ronnie was born August 23, 1957, in Adrian the son of Edward L. and Madge (Fletcher) Hunt. Ron worked for many years in the family business of E & B Electronics. Ron enjoyed so many of his friends in the Manitou Beach area. He enjoyed watching NASCAR. Ron will be sadly missed by his daughter, Kelly Hunt of Jackson and two sisters, Carol (Jeff) Carter of Adrian and Karen (Ron) Luce of Parrish, Florida and nephews Rod Carter, Barry Carter, Louis Calvin, Trent Calvin, Brandon Luce and Ron Luce Jr. At Ron’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date along with burial of cremains in Raisin Valley Cemetery. ADRIAN – Milbert A. “Poke” Willnow, age 94, of Adrian, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Grand Court. He was born December 11, 1916, in Adrian to Adolph and Erna (Niemann) Willnow. He was married to Mary Martinus on August 30, 1942, in Temple, TX. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2008. He retired from Dura Corp. in 1980. Poke served in the Army Air Corp, as a 2nd Lieutenant and pilot of a B-17 Flying Fortress from 1941-1945. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church. He is survived by a son, Grant Willnow of Lancaster, NY; a daughter, Janice Hamlin of Surprise, AZ; four grandchildren, Jessica (Hamlin) Simmerman, Amy Foote, Martin Willnow and Heidi Krone; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, two sisters and three brothers. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Brian Keller officiating. Cremation will follow the service. ADRIAN - Sonia (Sunny) Lee Cole Borton, age 67, of Adrian, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011. She was born November 28, 1943 in Jackson, MI to Max and Eva Cole Hephner. She graduated from Adrian High School in 1961, where she was a member of the school choir. She also was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church Choir. Sunny was a Rainbow Girl, the First female EMT/Firefighter for Madison Township and was a Nurses Aid for many years. Sunny will be missed by her two sons, David (Heather) Borton and Trent (Amy) Borton, all of Adrian; her sister, Vickie Hephner of Jackson; her step-father, LaVon Hephner of Jackson; nine grandchildren, Travis (Megan), Levi, Bayli, Zach, Bret, Taylor, Brayr Borton, Brandon Morley and Erika Dibble; and one great-granddaughter, Kaylee; her aunts, Mary Cole and Beverly Mosher; cousins, Jacklyn Marshall, DeAnna Hawkins, Mark, Terry, Tim and Jim Cole; and her nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Max Cole and her mother, Eva Hephner. The family wishes to thank Provincial House, LCA and the Adrian Fire Department for the excellent care they provided. At Sunny’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church in Adrian with Reverend Chris Cadwallader officiating. A luncheon will follow the service. Burial of cremains will be in Chapel Cemetery in Parma, MI, at a later date. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church. Tecumseh—Patricia Hazel (Simpson) Dobek, 85, of Tecumseh, Michigan passed away after a short illness at the Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio on October 15, 2011. She was born in Ampthill, England on July 23, 1926, to Kenneth and Alice Simpson, who preceded her in death. Patricia was married on March 23, 1949 in Bedford, England to Stanley (Stanislaw) Dobek, who passed away in 2010. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Dobek of Bydgoszcz, Poland. She is also survived by two sisters, Jeane Y. Derby of Tecumseh, and Anne Majer of Bedford, England, and one brother, Roger Simpson of Toledo, Ohio. One brother, Denis Simpson of Plymouth, England, preceded her in death. Pat was the daughter of a police officer, and grew up in various towns in Bedfordshire, England. Pat and Stan immigrated to the USA in 1955, settling in Tecumseh. She worked at the shoe store in downtown Tecumseh from 1955–1995, under six different storeowners. She spent her retirement years traveling together with Stan, visiting England and Poland and points in the USA, working on craft projects, and visiting with friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held on Saturday, October 22 at 1 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Tecumseh. Interment will be beside her beloved husband Stanley in the parish cemetery in Odry, Poland. ADRIAN-Donette M. (Beebe) Merrell, 42, of Adrian passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011, at her residence. Dee was born August 31, 1969, in Adrian to Donald and Evelyn (Stout) Beebe. She graduated from Onsted High School in 1987, culminating in a trip to China as a member of the Lions All State Band. She married Lynn Todd Merrell on April 27, 1991, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in English and Secondary Education in 1991, and taught 7th graders English for two years before beginning her own family. Serving her family was her specialty: homeschooling for a couple years, setting goals and family mission statements, and making food storage a priority. She delighted in teaching four years of early morning youth classes, and serving the young women and children in her church for many years. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, helping her daughter to receive her Silver Award in Girl Scouts, and encouraged her son as he became an Eagle Scout. She had been studying to become a school counselor. She will be missed for her thoughtful acts of kindness and warm hearted smile. Dee is survived by her loving husband, parents, and children Tyler, Amanda, Jenna, William, and her sisters, Linda (Don) Tailleart of California, and Patricia (Steve) Betzner of Texas, four nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 am in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse (140 Sand Creek Hwy, Adrian). Burial will be in East Rome Cemetery. ADRIAN – Isabel Torres, age 80, of Adrian, died Friday, October 14, 2011, at her home. She was born December 25, 1930, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, to Eugenio and Josefia (Matos) Irizarry. She was married to Pablo Torres, who preceded her in death in April of 1989. Isabel was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guadalupe Society and the Choir. Isabel is survived by six sons, Herbert, Joe, David, Ralph, Raul and Rene; three daughters, Doris, Alice, and Josephine; two brothers, Miquel Irizarry and Giberto Irizarry; one sister, Anita Cruz; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Pablo, she was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Josefina. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Bob Schramm presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. ADRIAN – Shirley Constance “Connie” Farver, age 81, of Adrian, died Monday, October 10, 2011, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. She was born March 30, 1930, in St. Augustine, Florida to Ben and Ruby (Ashton) Adams. On June 18, 1949, she married Herbert Farver in St. Augustine, and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2006. Connie served on the Siena Heights University Board, and the Bixby Medical Center Board of Trustees. She also served as President of the Bixby Medical Center Auxiliary and was very active in the KKE Sorority. Connie is survived by two sons, Michael (Susan) Farver of Plantation, FL, and Patrick (Debbie) Farver of Adrian; a daughter, Cynthia (Peter) Galiette of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a brother, Ben W. (Sharon) Adams of St. Augustine, FL; a sister, Doris (Rusty) Reinhart of St. Augustine, FL; and three grandchildren, Brett, Brandon and Natalie Farver. The Farver Family would like to give special thanks to her care givers, Deb Walters, Darlene Marr, Joyce Thornton and Frances Butler for their love, care and compassion for our mother during the past five years, they have become a part of our extended family. MORENCI – Carol Jean Smith, age 71, of Morenci, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011. She was born February 17, 1940, in Morenci, to Donald Franklin and Betty Lou (Gleason) McCaskey. She was a graduate of Morenci High School, Class of 1957, and the Stautzenber Business College. On September 27, 1959, she married Arnold Smith in Morenci and he survives. Carol and Arnold had just celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary. Carol had been employed by the Dunbar Borton and Industrial Mill. She then went to work for the Morenci High School, where she was employed for 31 years until her retirement in June 2005. Being involved in the school system Carol touched the lives of many young people as well as the community of Morenci, she was a special, compassionate and caring woman. She was a supportive and loving wife, mother and dotting grandmother. There are not enough words to describe how kind and caring she was to everyone. Whether it was a phone call, a batch of fresh cookies or a quick casserole, she was always willing to help. Carol was a member of the Sand Creek Community Church. In addition to her husband, Arnold she is survived by two daughters, Laurie (Ronald) Williams of Sand Creek, Karen Hallett of Adrian; and a special surrogate daughter, Kelly VanHaerents of Morenci; three brothers, Charles (Grace) McCaskey of Morenci, George (Patricia) McCaskey of Morenci and Roger (Jeanne) McCaskey of Osseo; one sister, Connie Vinton (Vernon Harper) of Tecumseh; five grandchildren, Kassandra Gray, Andrew Roddy, Brandon Williams, Lauren Hallett and Cole Hallett; one great-grandson, Logan Gray. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-father, George Whitburn. Winamac, IN – Irene A. Dowling, age 88 of Winamac, formerly of Adrian, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at the Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac, IN. She was born March 21, 1923, in Lyons, OH, to Corbie B. and Erma P. (Lutton) Bixler. Irene married Dennis Dowling on September 28, 1946, in Napoleon, OH. He survives. Irene and Dennis just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. She was a Past-Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge In Winamac, IN and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Jasper, MI and Elgin, IL. Irene worked at American Chain & Cable in Adrian, MI during WWII. She liked to fish and play BINGO. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and picking fruit. Irene traveled many places. Irene was a devoted wife and loving mother. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most of all she loved to serve others. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Jim (Edna) Dowling of Hopkinsville, KY, Jerry (Carol) Dowling of Winamac, IN; two daughters, Denise (Yolanda Baldwin) Dowling of North Aurora, IL, Deelight (Richard) Murphy of Chicago, IL; three granddaughters, Jeni Marcinkiewicz, Stacey (Jeremy) Beckner and Laura Dowling; one great-granddaughter, Maggie Marcinkiewicz; two great-grandson, Leo Marcinkiewicz and Jayden Beckner; five step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Viola (George) Cohran of Adrian and Martha Harris of Sand Creek. She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons, Jeremy M. Dowling and Larry E. Wilcox; five sisters, Mary Simpkins, Cleo Stutzman, Ida Baldwin, Margaret Butler, Jean Higley; one infant sister; and three brothers, Clarence “Mike” Bixler, Robert “Bob” Bixler and Homer “Bill” Bixler. Adrian - James Joseph (Joe) Fehr, Jr. (age 85), died peacefully Monday, October 3rd, 2011 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti. Joe was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1926 to J.J. Fehr Sr. and Stella Fehr. On April 14, 1956 he married Margaret Ann Kunz. His beloved wife of 55 years preceded him in death in June of this year. Survivors include daughters Marcy Chamberlain (Steve), Susie Sweigart (Jim), Katie Lindsey (Todd) and son James Fehr III MD (Anne), thirteen grandchildren, as well as his sister, Jeri Rothnem and brother Charles Fehr. Joe graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois with a business degree. He served as executive officer on a US Navy ship during the Korean War. His sales and marketing career included Kaiser Aluminum, US Steel, and Simplex Industries before starting J. Fehr Associates, Inc., an industrial sales agency. The funeral is Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 1p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Adrian. ADRIAN – Shirlee “Lee” Cheney, age 80, of Adrian, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born December 3, 1930, in Laurium, Michigan to Carl and Johanna (Hoffman) Keckonen. Lee attended Northern Michigan College in Marquette, Michigan for two years and completed her B.A. degree at Lawrence College in Appleton, Wisconsin. After graduation with a B.A. from Lawrence she taught Spanish and English at the high school in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. In 1954 she was granted a teaching assistantship in Spanish at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa where she earned her M.A. degree. A highlight of her educational experience was her eight week postgraduate work at the University of Valencia, Valencia, Spain. An additional trip to Spain, three trips into England and time spent in France, Germany, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Scotland were always included in her memorable experiences. Her last years of teaching were at Bentley High School in Livonia, Michigan and at Adrian High School. After her retirement in 1992 she volunteered at the Adult Literacy Program and was an active member of the Lenawee County Retired School Personnel, serving as editor of that group’s newsletter for six years. Lee is survived by a son, David (Karen) Cheney of Adrian; a daughter, Paula (Larry) Walworth of Northville; a brother, Jon (Ann) Keckonen of Sheboygan, WI; and four grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Nathan Cheney and Sarah Walworth. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl, in 1987; her sister, Bonnie McNeil of Sun City West, AZ in 2003; and her mother, Johanna of Sheboygan, WI, in 2005. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011, from 2-6 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Graveside services and burial will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery in Calumet, MI.

ADRIAN – Ruth A. Arnett, age 91, of Adrian, died Tuesday, October 04, 2011, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. She was born May 18, 1920 in Escanaba, MI to George and Hannah (Adair) Leach. She met her husband, Henry Arnett in Washington, D.C. and later they were married there on June 29, 1946. Henry preceded her in death in January 1991. Ruth was employed at Willow Run in Ypsilanti, helping construct bombers during WWII. She settled in Adrian in 1950 and was employed at Stubnitz-Greene. She was a member of the woman’s auxiliary of the D.A.V. Ruth was an avid Gardner and enjoyed spending time with her five grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She took great delight in teaching the girls to cook. Ruth was a true Detroit Tigers fan and relished watching the games with her family. She is survived by daughters, Darlene Grant of Adrian, Diane (Curtis) Tuckerman of Morenci, Linda Shavalier of Adrian and one son, David (Lenna) Arnett of Battle Creek. Also surviving is a brother Fred (Rose) Leach of Rock, MI. In addition to her husband, Henry, she was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and six sisters and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Adrian-Virgil Lee Osgood, age 56 of Adrian, died Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Bixby Medical Center. He was born November 26, 1954, in Adrian, to Bruce and Ethel (VanGorder) Osgood. On June 11, 1977, Virgil married Jackie Kay Collyer in Adrian, and she survives. Virgil graduated from Adrian High School with the Class of 1974 and had been employed by Merillat Industries for almost 33 years. Virgil helped with 4-H for many years and was a member of the Morenci Sportsman’s Club for three years. He was a loving spouse, father and grandfather and a great friend to many. Virgil loved spending time with family, woodworking, gardening, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, mowing grass on his John Deere mower and just being in the great outdoors. He will be greatly missed by ALL! Surviving Virgil, in addition to his wife, Jackie, are his parents, Bruce and Ethel Osgood of Hudson and his sons, Michael (Marsha) Osgood and Jason (Jennifer) Osgood, both of Adrian; a sister, Patricia (Jeff) Belknap of Clio and four grandchildren, Kourtnie, MaKayla, Jeremy and Raven who is due to be born in January. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Virgil will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. at Sand Creek Community Church with Rev. Mike Dunson officiating. ADRIAN – Emery Ezra Mallory, age 82, of Adrian, formerly of Blissfield, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born October 28, 1928, in Blissfield, to Ezra and Ethel (Brownell) Mallory. On May 28, 1948, he married Betty Berniece Bailey and she preceded him in death on July 11, 2004. Emery had been employed with Service Soft in Tecumseh, he then went to work for Rollins Guard Service of Adrian until his retirement. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and his pets. He dearly enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Eunice Aileen Hansen, age 89, of Monroe, MI, formerly of Adrian, MI, died September 28, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in Monroe, Michigan, where she had resided for nearly fifteen amazing years. Eunice loved living at the Lutheran Home and, in return, she was loved by everyone who knew her there. Eunice was born February 21, 1922, to William J. and Mable (Faulkner) Vosburgh in West Milton, Ohio. She married Donald C. Hansen on November 28, 1936. They were married sixty-one years. Donald preceded her in death on December 3, 1997. Eunice lived in the Adrian area most of her life. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian, where she was a Sunday and Bible School teacher. Eunice worked on many church committees and sewed and donated quilts for charity. After moving to Monroe, she transferred membership to Grace Lutheran Church. Life was fun for Eunice. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed knitting, crafting, dollhouse making, acting, reading, traveling and most of all Dolly, her pet dog. On any given day, Eunice and Dolly could be seen traveling around the Lutheran Home on her scooter. Eunice is survived by a family who loved her dearly, A son, William C. Hansen (Carla) of Erie, MI.; A daughter, Mary K. Fetkenhier (Jack) of Tecumseh, MI.; six grandchildren, Kristin McFadden (Tom Smith) of Ann Arbor, MI.; Jack Fetkenhier (Melissa) of Kalamazoo, MI.; Kara Carstensen (Anthony) of Tecumseh, MI.; Kate Fetkenhier (Ryan Barnaby) of East Lansing, MI.; Lisa Byers (Dennis) of Cedar Park, TX.; Robert Birman of Monroe and nine great-grandchildren, Dylan and Baylee Stern; Maja and Nate Smith; Elizabeth Fetkenhier; Madison and Ayden Byers; and Richard and Reigne Birman. Also surviving is one adored niece, Susie Fulkerson (Frank) of Toledo, OH.; and two attentive nephews, Tom Harkness (Maren) of Mattawan, MI., and Tim Harkness (Carol) of Kalamazoo, MI. and many great nieces and nephews. Eunice will, also, be missed by four people who brought her endless joy; Jan Neukom, Albert Jay Neukom, Julia Neukom Titley and Jody Neukom Talbot. ADRIAN-Dianne Hoenig, age 63, of Adrian, died on Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Lynwood Manor . She was born May 17, 1948, in Adrian to Wilhelm and Anna (Sikula) Spycher. She had been employed by Bixby Hospital as a LPN. She was a member of Tipton Community Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Dianne is survived by a brother, Wilhelm “Bill” G. Spycher of Tipton; a sister, Rosalie Spycher of Adrian; a daughter, Lisa (John) Hofmeister, of White Pigeon, Michigan; and four grandchildren, Logan, Grace, Lilly, and Aaron. At Dianne’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or services. Burial of cremains will be in Maple Shade Cemetery, Onsted. SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – Guadalupe Felice Casanova, age 77, of San Antonio, TX, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011, at the Northeast Methodist Hospital in Live Oak, Texas. She was born November 24, 1933, in Beaumont, TX, to Ygnacio and Cruz Ruth (Rodriguez) Ramonez. On March 22, 1952, she married George Casanova in Riga, MI. He preceded her in death on January 9, 1996. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Guadalupe was employed by the Head Start program in the late 1960’s retiring in the 1980’s. She was very instrumental in helping the Hispanic Community by implementing the Bi-Lingual Program of Head Start of Lenawee County. Her love was her 33 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren, and as many as there were, she never forgot a birthday. Guadalupe is also survived by six sons, Pablo Casanova of San Antonio, TX, Jose Casanova, Sr., Gregorio Casanova, Jr., Guadalupe Casanova, Juan Casanova, Sr. and Gilberto Casanova, Sr. all of Adrian; two daughters, Margarita Casanova of Adrian and Theresa Casanova of San Antonio, TX; four brothers, Juan Ramonez, Alex Ruiz, Sr., Ygnacio Ramones, Jr and Patricio Ramonez; four sisters, Juana Gonzalez, Delores Ramonez, Jesusa Ramonez and Cruz Ramonez. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Alvina Casanova; one sister, Emilia Ramonez; one granddaughter, Lillian Casanova and a great-granddaughter, Gabriella Baldwin. The funeral liturgy for Guadalupe will be offered on Friday, September 23, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Bob Schramm presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. BLISSFIELD – Mildred Belle Warner, age 88, of Blissfield, passed away Monday, September 19, 2011, at Liberty Place. She was born March 30, 1923, in Blissfield to Berl Sandford and Grace Belle (Cook) Reed. On April 25, 1942, she married Maurice Warner in Blissfield and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2008. Mildred was a member of the Maple Avenue Bible Church. She is survived by three sons, Robert (Carole) Warner of Jasper, James (Janet) Warner of Blissfield, and Wayne (Marilyn) Warner of Detroit, Alabama; two daughters, Barbara (Wayne) Heineman of Blissfield and Christine Hale of Wilmington, OH; a brother, Donald Reed of Blissfield; 14 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Maurice, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Margaret Porter and Helen Tait; and a son-in-law, Charles Hale. OSSEO- Sylvia Shearer, age 63, of Osseo passed away peacefully Sunday, September 18, 2011 at her home. She was born June 23, 1948 in Hudson, Michigan the daughter of Philip and Boncilla Mae (Taylor) Goodlock. She married Larry Shearer on October 18, 1965 in Rollin, Michigan and he survives. Besides her husband, Sylvia is survived by four children, Peggy Shearer of Ransom, Laura Orbeck of Osseo, Denise Shearer of Adrian and Chad Shearer of Hudson; three brothers, Phil “P-Nut” (Cindy) Goodlock of Hudson, Eugene “Shorty” (Becky) Goodlock of Hillsdale and Duwayne (Nancy) Goodlock of Clayton; four sisters, Brenda (John) Baker of Hudson, Hilda McCartey of Morenci, Linda (Jim) Hill of Spanaway, WA and Cynthia (Norman) Maxson of Pittsford; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Katie, Jonathan, Shelby, Joshua and Eleta. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian with Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating. ADRIAN – Constance M. Warren, 82, of Adrian, passed away in her home on Sunday, September 18, 2011, surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born April 11, 1929, to Milo and Grace (Damon) Snedeker of Adrian. She was a 1947 graduate of Adrian High School. On September 6, 1947, she married Berton H. Warren, her high school sweetheart. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2008. Together they served as Corps Assistants for The Salvation Army in Madison, WI. After their children were grown, Connie served as Store Manager for The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Adrian, MI. Connie is survived by her two sons: Steven A. Warren and Milo A. (Julie) Warren both of Adrian and daughter, Candace S. Aranda of Tecumseh. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren: Daniel R. Warren, Mary (Art) Hallock, Sarah (Brian) Frederick, Grace (Bryan) Nichols, Emily A. Warren and Spenser A. Warren. Connie was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren. She is survived by a sister, Normaleen S. Snedeker. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Bert; son-in-law, Gregorio Aranda, Jr.; one infant sister and two brothers: Larry and Lewis. She was a lifetime member of The Salvation Army in Adrian, enjoying work with youth and women’s programs. Her great love was teaching Sunday School. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at The Salvation Army, Adrian with Captain Gordon Knight and Envoy Edward deBaptiste officiating.
